Repair of tile workIf a repair is needed or a tile is loose, we will come in to remove and replace it. In repair work, removal of a tile generally breaks the tile. Then there is the matching of the tile and grout. We will do our best to match your tile if you do not have any available, but tile companies change die lots within 5 years of the sale of the tile. Other times, The tile is not available. This is the reason Dville Enterprises will suggest keeping several tiles in case a repair is necessary. The next problem is matching the grout. Even if you have the exact grout used in the original job, it may not match. The reason is that the grout can be bleached by the sun, aged just by use, or improperly cleaned. When doing a repair, we will match the tile and grout to the best of our abilities. Shower pan Repairs If your shower pan is leaking, we will come in to test the pan to make sure the leak is in the pan itself. Testing the pan costs $75 which will be deducted from any repair work that is done. To do the repair, we will remove the shower door, remove the shower floor tile and 12-18 inches of wall tile, remove the tile on the curb, and the shower pan. Then we inspect the sub-floor and do any repairs necessary. Then we will replace the shower drain, if necessary and install a PVC shower pan. After this, we float the floor with a mixture of river sand and portland cement. We set the tile next, matching the grout joints if possible. Then we grout and re install the shower door. The average shower pan repair takes about 4-5 days and out of commission for an additional 2 day for the adhesive and grout to cure fully. When we do repair work, we do what we can to contain the dust. For major repairs we mask the room. For minor repairs we contain the dust by running a vacuum while removing the tile. We always put down drop cloths to protect your floors. We clean up our mess to the best of our ability. If you need help or an estimate on any kind of tile repair, contact us by phone or Email |
